Actively Pursuing Healthier Living.
Healthy Howard received a Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) grant from Kaiser Permanente to support the development of a Healthy Recreation pilot program. The grant focuses on increasing fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity — and decreasing the time youth spend watching TV and playing video games in order to prevent and reduce childhood obesity.
Healthy Howard plans to pilot this HEAL initiative in a number of Howard County elementary schools in the Fall of 2011. The program will include activities that can be completed at school and at home and incorporate components for parents and kids. Look for HEAL at a school near you!
